Five new attributes are collected upon establishing a connection to the Teradata Database. The columns are available in the DBC.SessionInfo view, the DBC.SessionTbl (usually only available to administrators of the Teradata Database) and the DBC.LogOnOff view. For more details on the new columns refer to Client Attributes.
Pseudo period columns are supported in the Data Provider only. These new columns do not take up space in the row and they are represented by two Date or Timestamp columns. These Date or Timestamp columns define the start and end points for the pseudo period column. The Columns Schema Collection COLUMN_INFO column will contain additional information on a pseudo period column or a pseudo period beginning or endpoint column.
The ReservedWords Schema Collection retrieves Teradata Database reserved words from the SYSLIB.SQLRestrictedWords view. Users must have read access rights to the SYSLIB.SQLRestrictedWords view.
The length of Teradata Database object names has also been extended from 30 bytes of a Latin or KANJISJIS character set to 128 Unicode characters. This capability supports a richer set of characters to compose object names. For more information on the support and restrictions see Extended Object Names in the Data Provider.
The Xml type is now supported. A new Provider Specific Type TdXml that corresponds to the Xml type has been added to the .Net Data Provider for Teradata. Applications can retrieve Xml and send Xml to/from a Teradata Database 14.10 or greater. For more information refer to Xml Type Overview.
